Duncan Hwang (he, him, his) joined the Metro Council in January 2022 after a career in corporate law and then a decade of nonprofit leadership. As a community development practitioner, he focuses on the creation of affordable housing and safe transportation systems. At Metro, he works extensively on those efforts, represents Metro Council on the
Transit-Oriented Development Committee and
Committee on Racial Equity, and focuses on the implementation of complex community visions around the region.Duncan is excited to play a part in Metro’s unique role bringing governments and residents together to solve problems. His advocacy for community development and engagement traces back to his upbringing in an immigrant family in Michigan, where his mother opened the area’s first Chinese restaurant. This upbringing shapes his approach to ensuring our region’s most vulnerable communities have the support and resources they need to thrive.
